The honest problem

Funding shouldn’t take longer than the work

The search is half the job. Here’s the part nobody budgets for.

Hours lost to dead ends

You find a fund that fits, start shaping a bid, then discover your structure ruled you out from the start.

Then you lose track

The search ends in a spreadsheet, and the spreadsheet goes stale. Deadlines pass unnoticed, half-written applications drift, and nobody can say what is actually in progress.

Not shaped for you

Charities, CICs, social enterprises and community groups each face different eligibility, but most funding search flattens that, so you chase funds that were never open to you.

The funding you usually miss

Grants aren’t the whole picture. Social investment, accelerator programmes, competitions and in-kind support rarely make it onto your radar.

“It’s my no. 1 source for funding research now. It’s helped me identify new grants and pro bono support that I hadn’t found elsewhere. It’s made for fundraisers!”

Paul Kilty, founder of Shoots

"I've spent 20 years in the social enterprise and charity sector, co-founding a youth music organisation, leading development strategy at local charities, and driving fundraising across a global co-working network for social entrepreneurs.

The frustration was the same every time: a fragmented funding system that made people like me spend more time hunting opportunities than doing the work that matters."

Paul Kilty, founder of Shoots

Shaped and pressure-tested by a founding group of charities, CICs and social enterprises.

Funding research can send you down endless rabbit holes. A focused hour on the platform has been genuinely valuable, it saves us digging into the minutiae of deadlines and eligibility, and it's surfaced funders we'd never have come across otherwise, smaller livery companies around the £10k mark.

Jen Robinson-Slater
Fundraising Manager, Learning with Parents

I was using a spreadsheet and a fairly ad-hoc approach to building a list of funders. It organised all of that into one genuinely user-friendly tool, and the search has already helped me find a number of new funds.

Jack Nissan
Creative Director, Tinderbox Collective

Shoots has become our go-to funding research platform. Its eligibility matching is remarkably accurate, saving us countless hours and helping us focus on opportunities we have a genuine chance of securing.

David Agar
CEO, BankAbility UK CIC

A game changer from the start, and it keeps getting better. It finds, ranks and gives key details of each opportunity clearly, and I can add them to a pipeline or apply directly through the site. It's made for fundraisers!

Questions, answered

Frequently asked questions

How do I find funding for a charity?

Tell Shoots who you are and who you help, and it searches live, verified funding opportunities across grants, social investment, programmes and in-kind support, showing only what your organisation is eligible for.

What grants can a CIC apply for?

CICs are eligible for many community funding programmes, lottery funds and foundation grants, but eligibility varies by fund. Shoots checks each opportunity against your structure so you only see grants a CIC can actually win.

How does grant matching work?

You set up a profile once, covering your legal structure, location, size, sector and funding stage. Every opportunity in the catalogue is checked against all five, with the reasons why you match shown alongside each result.

Is Shoots free?

Every new organisation starts with 14 days on Apply, no card needed. After that, Match is £19 a month and Apply is £35. Sign up before 31 October and you pay £15 or £25 a month for your first 12 months.

Will I be able to try it before paying?

Yes. Every trial is 14 days on the Apply plan, with full catalogue access and no card. At the end you choose a plan, and nothing you saved is lost.

What kinds of funding does Shoots cover?

The full funding mix: grants, social investment, programmes such as incubators, accelerators, training and support, and in-kind support like pro bono services and donated tools.

How is Shoots different from other funding databases?

Most databases list everything and leave the checking to you. Shoots sources opportunities widely but only publishes what is live and verified, matched against your legal structure, location, size, sector and funding stage. You see fewer results, and far more of them are worth your time.

Does Shoots write my applications for me?

No, and that’s deliberate. Shoots helps you find the right opportunities, manage your pipeline and shape applications in your own words. AI helps with structure and reuse, but the voice stays yours. Funders reward authenticity.

Do you cover the whole of the UK?

Yes. The catalogue spans UK-wide funders alongside national and regional funds for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Who can see my pipeline and data?

Only your organisation. Your pipeline, projects and applications are private to your account. Other users and funders can’t see them, and we never share them. We only access account data when needed to support you.

What is a CIC?

A community interest company: a limited company that exists to benefit the community rather than shareholders. If you run one or are setting one up, Shoots shows the funding open to your structure.
